Clams
Clearwater owns and operates three clam harvesting vessels, the Belle Carnell, Anne Risley and Arctic Endurance. The vessels harvest Arctic Surf, Cockle and Propeller Clams year-round off the coasts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador from the Banquereau and Grand Banks. Equipped with modern systems, state-of-the-art navigational and multi-beam sonar technology, these vessels make up a fleet of the most technologically advanced shellfish harvesters in the world.
Clearwater continues to invest in technology and innovative solutions, which are applied to all aspects of our harvesting operations. This includes ocean bottom mapping technology, used to understand clam habitats and allow the fishery to better target and manage Clearwater’s footprint. The offshore Arctic Surf Clam fishery is certified under the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard for sustainable wild fisheries demonstrating Clearwater’s commitment to responsible seafood harvesting.
